December 17, 2020 Update: Our prayers have been answered! We are thankful that the 9th Circuit has vacated their previous decision. In light of this, Bishop Thomas has made the decision to allow churches to open up to 25% occupancy effective immediately.
What about Christmas? We are excited that all who made reservations with us for Christmas will be able to join us inside of the parish. We started accepting reservations for Christmas in October, and filled up just last week.
If you weren’t able to register in time, you are encouraged to join us by viewing Mass on your personally owned device via our YouTube stream from the warmth and safety of your vehicle in our parking lot. During Communion, an Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister will distribute Communion outside to those that watched Mass online and are able to receive.
Please consider making a one-time contribution to our Christmas collection. Due to COVID-19, our operating finances have been totally upended due to the increased cleaning costs and additional expenses for PPE, streaming, etc. This Christmas, please consider making a one-time donation to our Christmas collection. This fund will be used to help support our parish as we ultimately emerge stronger together from this pandemic. To make a donation, please click here.
Because of COVID-19, we will not be able to accommodate our normal crowds of well over 1000 people per Mass. To help our staff and volunteers, who have already been stretched thin due to many of our regular volunteers not being able to assist at Mass, we are forced to take reservations for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day-only.
We will stream all of our Masses. If you are not able to get a reservation or don’t feel comfortable coming into the church, consider joining us for Mass by sitting safely (and warmly) in your car. A Eucharistic Minister will come outside following Mass for those that are not able to get into the church for whatever reason.
Due to COVID-19 regulations put into place by Bishop Thomas, we will not have our popular Children’s Choir this year. Look for more information on the Children’s Choir to come once we return to “normal.”
By attending Christmas (and all liturgies) at St. Anthony’s, you agree to:
Failure to comply with these simple requests will require us to ask you to leave. Please be charitable to your fellow Catholics, especially those volunteering their own time away from their family during this difficult Christmas season. If we all pitch in, this pandemic will be over sooner.

Following the success of last week’s outdoor Mass and concert, we will offer our 5:30 PM daily Mass outside (weather permitting) on the following dates. Parishioners are encouraged to bring their own chairs. The dates are:
All of these Masses will be followed with Eucharistic Adoration, weather permitting. Limited seating will be provided. Parishioners are encouraged to bring their own chair or blanket.
Please keep in mind the following:

| Bishop Thomas Extends Dispensation from the Obligation of Mass DECREE Dispensation from the Obligation to Attend Mass Extension – August 30, 2020 through September 27, 2020 |
||
| While I have granted permission to begin the reopening of public Masses, due to the ongoing gravity of the present moment and the restrictions being placed on us during the civil reopening plan, I hereby extend the dispensation for all Catholic faithful of the Diocese of Las Vegas and those Catholics visiting within the geographic boundaries of our Diocese, from the obligation of attending Sunday Masses up to and including September 27, 2020.
While we recognize that many are eager to return to Mass in our churches, it remains important for those who are elderly and otherwise at risk to refrain from returning to public Liturgies until it is manifestly safe to do so. For all the faithful, especially those who are sick, at high risk of becoming sick, and their caregivers, the obligation to attend Sunday Mass is hereby dispensed. Sincerely yours in Christ, Most Revered George L. Thomas, Ph.D. Date: August 24, 2020 |
